The Museum's building was sold on October 15th, 2007.  Its contents are still retained by the National Council.


Basic Inventory
Genealogists: The Museum only has minutes of past meetings. You will have to consult other resources to find information about distant relatives.
The National IOGT Museum and Archive has an abundant collection of IOGT memorabilia and literature. Among the items are:
  • Over 50 charters from all over the United States
  • Record books
  • Minute books
  • Large hanging lodge/chapter banners
  • Pictures
  • Badges from National Meetings, Districts and Chapters with some that give the officer’s position
  • Regalia
  • Rituals
  • Awards
  • Ballot boxes with white and black marbles. Being “blackballed” means that someone voting put a black ball in the box and you could not become a member.
  • Gavels
  • IOGT Plates
  • Seals of Lodges, Chapters and Districts
In addition, we have a collection of books. These books include topics on Prohibition; Temperance; the 18th Amendment; Parliamentary Rules from 1879, 1889 and 1915; National IOGT at Work c. 1888, Sons of Temperance 1842-1854, The Templar at Work c. 1893 and History of Independent Order of Good Templars c. 1869, 1882 and 1887. Only a very few of the books are biographies of John B. Fitch, Haddock and Joseph Malins.
Regional items include journals, program books and IOGT papers:
  • California: California Grand Lodge, District 1, Pasadena, and Viking.
  • Washington: Washington Grand Lodge.
  • Montana: Montana Lodge.
  • Illinois: Central States Regional Council, Illinois Grand Lodge, Ankaret, Anchor, Batavia, IODGHET, Fridhem, Trofast, Venus, Linnea, Camp Elwood, Vega, Swedish Day, Svenskarna.
  • New England: Eastern Grand Lodge, Quinsingamond Val, Kampen, Monitor, Frihet, Morganstjernan, Goda Viljor, Svenska Godtemplaren, Enterprise, SGU Youth, Förgätning ej vårblomman, Freja and their building.
  • New York: New York Grand Lodge, New York Templar various issues 1917-1938.
  • Pennsylvania: Tri-state, Atlantic Seaboard.
  • Minnesota: Eidswold, Odin, Harmony, Lincoln, Bernadotte, Norge, Templars Hope, Freja, Enigheden, Jupiter, American Fellowship of Abstainers.
